MP: Death toll from spurious liquor rises to 24, CM team reaches Morena

Morena: The death toll due to spurious liquor in Morena in Madhya Pradesh has now gone up from 20 to 24. Yes, there are still many people who are sick and are being treated. Now, the Committee constituted by Chief minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan has reached Morena to look into the matter. The Committee is said to have also spoken to the families of those who died. The Government has taken stringent steps in the case of deaths due to alleged spurious liquor in Morena.

Last Wednesday, Chief minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan convened a high level meeting. During the meeting, he expressed displeasure over the Morena incident. In addition, the Chief Minister had issued instructions in the meeting with the officials till the removal of morena collector and SP (SP). In the same meeting, the Chief Minister has constituted an investigation team to probe the incident, which includes two ADG level officers including ACS home. The team has reached Morena and started investigation.

After investigation, the Committee will submit its report to the Government. On the other hand, the police are exploring whether the deaths were caused by drinking more alcohol or poisoning. As per the information received at present, drinking alcohol in two villages of the district on Monday night began to worsen the health of the people, which is still going on. So far, 24 people have lost their lives by drinking poisonous liquor and many people are still sick.
