Bangalore: The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) on Friday (May 12) registered a corruption case against former Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB) officer Sameer Wankhede. Wankhede had arrested Bollywood actor Shah Rukh Khan's son Aryan Khan in a drug case last year. The CBI has registered a case against Sameer Wankhede under sections 7, 7A and 12 of the Prevention of Corruption Act and sections 120B (criminal conspiracy) and 388 (extortion by threat) of the IPC.

At the same time, according to the report, 3 other people have also been named in this case, including two former officers. It is being told in media reports that Wankhede had demanded a bribe of Rs 25 crore from the owners of the Cordelia ship for not implicating Aryan Khan in the drug case. Bollywood actor's son Aryan Khan was arrested on drug charges while partying on this ship. According to reports, CBI officials have received information that Sameer Wankhede and his accomplice had allegedly taken Rs 50 lakh in the drug case for not implicating Aryan Khan.

Officials have said that CBI is also raiding Sameer Wankhede's house in this bribery case. Along with this, searches are going on at 30 places in Delhi, Mumbai, Chennai, Lucknow, Ranchi, Guwahati and Kanpur in this case. Based on the vigilance report, the CBI took up the preliminary investigation. After that a case was registered against Indian Revenue Service (IRS) officer Sameer Wankhede. During vigilance investigation it was found that Sameer Wankhede has acquired huge wealth through corruption. On October 2, 2021, a team of Narcotics Department under the leadership of Sameer Wankhede raided Cordelia Cruise standing at Mumbai's International Cruise Terminal. During this, this team arrested Aryan Khan and many of his friends.

Shah Rukh Khan's son Aryan and his friends were charged with drug consumption, possession and trafficking. Aryan Khan spent 22 days in jail. After this, in May 2022, due to lack of sufficient evidence, NCB gave a clean chit to Aryan Khan. After this many allegations were made on Wankhede. The allegations of arbitrariness against the NCB team and Sameer Wankhede led to a separate vigilance probe. After that in May 2022, he was transferred to the Directorate of Tax Payer Services in Chennai.
