DHAKA: Team India received the impetus they required to continue competing for the World Test Championship after defeating Bangladesh by 188 runs in the first Test of the two-match series. On Day 5, the hosts resumed their second innings with a score of 272/6 and were bowled out for 324. Kuldeep Yadav, an India spinner, won the tournament's man of the match award for his outstanding bowling display in which he claimed 8 wickets in the opening Test. Three century were scored in the opening game between India and Bangladesh by Shubman Gill, Cheteshwar Pujara, and Zakir Hasan. The supporters would be worried about the two superstars, KL Rahul and Virat Kohli, who struggled in the first game despite India's respectable performance.

Bangladesh was rewarded for their disciplined bowling during an attritional session in which the Indian hitters were put to the test on a surface that wasn't particularly conducive to batting and had displayed some tricks through turn and varying bounce.

Rahul and Gill were kept quiet after Day Two's 19/0 start because Khaled Ahmed tricked them into playing and missing a few times. The left-arm spinner Taijul was continuously hitting the stumps from the other end, and he was rewarded when he removed an unsteady Rahul on the first delivery of the 14th over.

The ball hit the pad first in front of the middle-stump because Rahul, the Indian captain, didn't come to the pitch of the ball as he came down the field to defend off Taijul. Through Taijul, Bangladesh accepted the evaluation and made the breakthrough.

In his subsequent over, Taijul took another wicket when Gill attempted to sweep but utterly missed the ball and was caught lbw. With a few restrictions, Pujara and Kohli managed to survive the storm. Pujara became the eighth Indian hitter to amass 7000 Test runs when he did so.
