Srinagar: There have been incidents of house collapses in Himachal Pradesh due to heavy rains. Floods caused by heavy rains have also caused severe devastation in other parts of the country. Three people died when a house collapsed following a landslide triggered by rains in Himachal's Chamba district on Saturday morning, officials said. Flash floods in the Mandi district led to an inflow of water into houses, trapping some villagers and damaging several vehicles.

Officials of Chamba district emergency operation centre (DEOC) have informed that a landslide occurred at Banet village in Chauwari tehsil at around 4.30 am on Saturday, following which a house collapsed. Three people lost their lives in the incident. The bodies of the three deceased have been recovered. According to officials, rainwater entered several houses and shops in Balh, Sadar, Thunag, Mandi and Lamathach after flash floods at 4.15 am in Mandi.  

Several roadside vehicles were damaged in the floods and local residents were stranded inside their homes. The Disaster Management Department of Himachal Pradesh has issued a landslide warning due to the forecast of heavy rains in the state till August 25.
