Bhubaneswar: 31 teachers and students have been tested corona infected within 3 days of the opening of schools in Gajapati district of Odisha. "There have been 31 new corona-infected cases in the district"s schools," said Dr Pradeep Kumar Patra, chief district medical officer. "Out of this, 90% are teachers. All of them have been barred from coming to school." Before this, schools were closed for the past 9 months due to the corona epidemic.

Patra added, "all teachers were compulsorily tested under the rules before the school opened. In 31 positive cases, 2 students have also been reported positive. Out of this, 21 teachers are from Mohana block." All cases are from different schools. Due to board examination, the state government had decided to open schools for class X and XII from January 8.

An order has been issued for 100 days for 10th and 12th students except Saturdays and Sundays. However, it is necessary for the students to get their family's approval already. Most of the families are still afraid to send children to school due to corona. That is why, as expected in schools so far, the attendance of students is not visible.
