Chandigarh: Education Minister Vijay Inder Singla of Punjab has clarified that no decision has been taken by the Punjab government to open the school. He said that the Education Department has given its suggestions in response to the letter received from the Home Department regarding the opening of the school. The cabinet minister said that the final decision on the opening of the school will be taken by CM after reviewing all the precautions on the security of the students.
Simultaneously, Singla said that comments were sought by the Union Home Ministry from the Home Affairs and Justice Department of Punjab to resume some activities in schools from October 15. In response to this, the School Education Secretary said that schools can be opened only according to the guidelines of the Central Government. Instructions have been issued by the Central Government to reopen the schools and reports are being taken from the states.
There have been 33 more deaths in Punjab due to COVID-19 on Wednesday. 1230 patients were also healthy. 852 new cases have come to light in the state. Out of 33 deaths, 5 districts are from Jalandhar, 6 Ludhiana, 2 Gurdaspur, 2 Ropar, 2 Pathankot, 2 Fatehgarh Sahib, 5 Bathinda, 2 Muktsar, 1 Sangrur, 1 SBS Nagar, 1 Kapurthala, 1 Fazilka, and 3 Amritsar. Of the 852 cases, 114 are from Ludhiana district, 92 from Amritsar, 46 from Hoshiarpur, 62 from SAS Nagar, 120 from Jalandhar, 24 from Moga, 57 from Kapurthala, 21 from Ferozepur, 11 from Sangrur and Fazilka. There are 42 patients from Bathinda, 10 from Fatehgarh Sahib, 6 from Ropar, 18 from Muktsar, 31 from Tarn Taran, 27 from Patiala, 26 from Faridkot, 43 from Pathankot, 6 from Mansa, 12 from Barnala, and 57 from Gurdaspur. According to the Health Department, a total of 105,585 patients have returned home after recovering.
