New Delhi: The Budget Session of Parliament is underway. Meanwhile, during the Question Hour in the Rajya Sabha on Wednesday, the Minister of State for Home Nityanand Rai said that a large number of terrorists have been eliminated in Jammu and Kashmir. He said that after the abrogation of Article 370 from Jammu and Kashmir, 439 terrorists have been killed. During this period, 98 civilians have been killed and 109 security personnel have been martyred, while 541 terrorist incidents have been registered. 

Union Minister Nityanand Rai has given information in this regard before the discussion on the President's Address on Wednesday after the presentation of the General Budget on Tuesday. The Home Ministry told the Rajya Sabha that so far 42 terrorist organisations have been declared banned under the UAPA. Along with this, 13 organisations have also been banned under UAPA. Under Schedule 4 of the UAPA, 31 people were declared terrorists.

In the budget presented on Tuesday for the financial year 2022-23, an allocation of Rs 35,581.44 crore was made to Jammu and Kashmir under central assistance, grants and loans. The erstwhile state of Jammu and Kashmir was bifurcated into two Union Territories of Jammu and Kashmir and Ladakh on August 5, 2019, after the abrogation of the provisions of Article 370. Jammu and Kashmir have been allocated Rs 35,581.22 crore for 2022-23, while the allocation in 2021-22 was Rs 34,704.46 crore, while Ladakh has been allocated Rs 5,958 crore at par with the current financial year.
