An investment banker said, "We are working in such an uncertain environment that I do not see any reason to dream of working in a company." This was just before the recession of 2008, when the banker was considering Lehman Brothers as a dream company. There have been huge changes in the job market in the last 10 years. You can say that the career graph of people in it has been like a roller coaster. Apart from this, job security, promotion and salary increase every year are old things now. Uncertainty has become an unavoidable condition in the job market in the times of weak economy. This means that now external factors have more impact on career, rather than your dreams and ambitions. Due to automation too, the employee and the institute are facing difficulties in making rapid progress.

In this challenging time, a lot of importance is being given to career planning and now it has become very important. Apart from this, it is important to have a long-term view of career and in this way you need to keep many goals of short duration and fulfill them. In this, you need to think beyond promotion, salary increase and dream company etc. The biggest pressure at this time is that a person's role can be limited in the coming days. Even more worrying is that they will not have the ability to deal with the challenges present in the environment instead. Apart from this, the skill that you have today, it will not be relevant after three to five years in almost daily changing environment. In the same career planning, the most important thing is that you not only get new qualification according to the job market, but constantly upgrade it so that you remain useful for the market.

1. Assess the current job profile
To set career goals, it is important that you assess the current job profile. When you go to a financial planner, he first wants to know about your financial goal. Along the same lines, consider your current role and its future. Your company must be doing quarterly or half yearly reviews, you should review the challenges for yourself as soon as possible.

2. Work according to a long-term career plan
If you want to get into the leadership role in the next four-five years, then you should have a clear idea about that profile. Once you have chosen the objective, identify what skills should be there to reach that goal. What does the resume of a person who is currently at that position look like.

Is there any skill that is difficult for you to learn? Do you have to have a degree? Is your leader teaching you enough skill so that you can work well on that role? To achieve long-term goals, you should work in many functions. Keeping in mind the long-term goal, you need to accomplish the short-term goal.

3. Learn and improve efficiency
Learning new skills is the most important part of career planning according to the job market instability and the constantly changing circumstances of the work place. Now throughout your life, you have to learn something. With the help of online education, you can do this work very easily. If you can take five-six hours a week to learn modern skills according to your work, then you can easily leave behind the risk of leaving your job. Your ability to easily learn new things also proves helpful in keeping you in the job market.

4. Experience
When you learn new skills, find opportunities to apply them. Find the possibility of working in future projects in your institute and use your skills in it. For example, every company is grappling with digital blockage and forming teams to deal with it. Working on such a project can be very important because the company helps you in all possible ways.

5. Take Instructions
Your mentor plays an important role in improving your performance. If you will be in touch with the leader, which position is your goal, then it is best to take training from him. Do not be influenced by age, experience etc. and learn something from the one who has the opportunity to learn.
