New Delhi: The Supreme Court has rejected a petition seeking directions to pay compensation of Rs 50 lakh to the next of kin of lawyers who died of corona infection. The Supreme Court said that when all people are facing a similar problem, there is no reason to give special treatment to lawyers. The apex court has also imposed a fine of 10,000 rupees on the lawyer who filed the petition.

The court has lashed out at petitioner advocate Pradeep Yadav. The court said that when other members of the society have faced the same problem, there is no reason for the lawyer to make an exception. The Supreme Court said that if you copy and paste the petition, it will not happen that the judge will not read the copy. The judge also imposed a fine of 10,000 rupees on advocate Pradeep Yadav.

The court also said that the petitioner will have to deposit the fine amount within a week. Advocate Pradeep Yadav in his petition had sought directions that a compensation of Rs 50 lakh is provided to a family member of lawyers below 60 years of age who died of corona infection or any other reason with immediate effect.
