New Delhi: A group of 7 influential US MPs has written to External Affairs Minister Mike Pompeo requesting his Indian counterpart to raise the issue of farmers' agitation in India for farmers who have been agitating for the past 30 days against India's new agricultural laws.
It also includes Indian-American women MP Pramila Jaipal in the group. But India has termed the comments made by foreign leaders and politicians on farmers ' protests as "inappropriate" and "based on incomplete and misinformation". India has also said that the matter relates to the internal affairs of a democratic country. In this regard, India's External Affairs Ministry spokesperson Anurag Srivastava said, "We saw comments based on some incomplete information which relate to farmers in India. These comments are inappropriate, as well as it is linked to the internal affairs of a democratic country. "
In the case of farmers, US MPs wrote a letter to Pompeo on 23rd December. The letter says that the matter is also related to Sikh Americans belonging to Punjab and is affecting Indian Americans from other states also.
