The 71-year-old RK studio in Mumbai's Chembur is now just on paper. The studio has been demolished on Thursday, August 8, 2019. The area has now been fully renamed by real estate giant Godrej Properties. The studio was founded in 1948 by Actor, Director and Producer Raj Kapoor.

The plan to sell RK Studios was also long ago. In fact, the point is that in August last year, a plan was made by Kapoor Khandan to sell to RK Studio and then it was revealed. He pointed out that the maintenance cost of the 2.2-acre property was too high and that is why he decided to sell the studio. Some reports also say that when the studio caught fire in 2017, it was decided by the Kapoor family to sell it.
Many Bollywood celebrities have also given their reaction to the news of the end of the iconic Bollywood studio.

Actress Richa Chadha tweeted, "I have no personal connection to this studio, although I am heartbroken by this. I.E. Conic Studio! I hope the Government takes any steps to protect it, save it for generations to come... While films made in the studio have a great contribution to Hindi cinema,"

Bollywood director Nikhil Advani wrote, "Founded in 1948, it was the headquarter of the studio movie legend. Raj Kapoor Film Production Company, RK Films and a lot of blockbuster films were shot here, especially in the 1970s and 80s." Here, Mera Naam Joker, Satyam Shivam Sundaram, Shri 420, Jis Desh Mei Ganga Behti Hai, prem rog, Ram Teri Ganga Maili, Kal Aaj Aur Kal, were shot in the RK studio.
