NEW DELHI: On the occasion of the 77th Independence Day, the Indian Air Force Headquarters (Vayu Bhawan) located in New Delhi will be illuminated in the vibrant colors of the tricolour flag. This symbolic gesture pays homage to the nation's journey towards freedom.

Yesterday evening, the IAF HQ was adorned with the tricolour illumination, and today, on Independence Day, the same resplendent hues will grace the headquarters once again. In a similar spirit, the Southern Naval Command commemorated Independence Day at its base in Kochi, Kerala, with a deep sense of patriotism.

The festivities at the Southern Naval Command included a grand Ceremonial Parade, which was overseen by Vice Admiral MA Hampiholi, AVSM, NM, the Flag Officer Commanding-in-Chief of the Southern Naval Command.

Meanwhile, in the capital city, Prime Minister Narendra Modi proudly raised the national flag, marking the 77th anniversary of the nation's independence. Following the flag hoisting, PM Modi delivered his customary address to the nation from the historic ramparts, marking his 10th Independence Day speech.

The celebration witnessed the participation of around 1,800 distinguished individuals from various walks of life and corners of the country, who were extended special invitations as guests to the main event in the national capital.

This year's Independence Day festivities bring to a close the ‘Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav’ celebrations. Launched by the Prime Minister on March 12, 2021, from the Sabarmati Ashram in Ahmedabad, Gujarat, these celebrations have once again invigorated the nation to stride into the future with renewed energy, aiming to achieve PM Modi's vision of transforming India into a developed nation by 2047.
