An old man in Bihar’s Darbhanga district was beheaded for naming a square in his town as Narendra Modi chowk. He was beheaded by a group of 50 people who came on motorcycles along with hockey sticks.

“Around 40-50 men came on 25-30 bikes with hockey sticks & swords. My father went to them to explain the situation, but was beheaded, they also tried to kill my brother,” said the son of the victim.

The man was identified as Ramchandra Yadav. He was the father of Tej Narayan Yadav, the BJP chief for Behala Panchayat.

The police rushed to the spot and took account of the situation. Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) Darbhanga Dilnawaz Ahmed reached the crime scene and spoke to media after an initial probe.

“We reached the spot of the incident immediately & had arrested the culprits by night. We have recorded the statements of all the witnesses. In the brother's case, we have recorded his statement & our investigating the matter,” said DSP Ahmed as quoted by ANI.

According to sources, the attackers were Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) supporters who wanted the chowk to be named after Lalu Prasad Yadav.
