Previous Sri Lanka captain Mahela Jayawardene has been selected head coach of the Mumbai Indians franchise. Jayawardene will replace previous Australia captain Ricky Ponting, whose two-year contract in the part will lapse soon. Jayawardene's appointment is purportedly for over one year, yet the franchise did not uncover the points of interest.
"Mahela Jayawardene's appointment has come in the wake of Ricky Ponting-mentor for the past two years - contract finding some conclusion," the franchise declared in a media discharge issued on Friday.

Jayawardene, 39, had beforehand played for other IPL franchises Kings XI Punjab, Kochi Tuskers, and Delhi Daredevils.
