Narendra Modi, the Prime Minister of our country has left for Africa visit. As per the reports, the PM shall be paying a visit to 3 African countries, i.e., Rwanda, Uganda and South Africa. He would conclude his trip in 5 days.
Mr. Modi would commence his journey today and would reach Rwanda. The information has been provided by the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA).
After, Rwanda, the PM would leave for Uganda. In Uganda, Narendra Modi shall spend the 24th and 25th of July. In a period of about 20 years, it would be the first time that an Indian Prime Minister shall visit the African continent.
The main purpose of Modi’s visit to Africa is his participation in the BRICS (Brazil, Russia, India, China and South Africa) summit.
In Rwanda and Uganda, the PM shall participate in the bilateral meetings including the presidents of the two countries.
As per the statement released by the MEA, "India shares close, warm and friendly relations with Africa which are cemented by robust development partnership and a large presence of the Indian diaspora. A number of agreements and MoUs in the areas of defence, trade, culture, agriculture and dairy cooperation are scheduled to be signed during the visit."
MEA officials later asserted, "Africa has been the top priority of India's Foreign Policy. The visit of the Prime Minister to Rwanda, Uganda and South Africa will further strengthen our relations with the African continent.”
