Guwahati (Asam): Today Rajya Sabha adjourned till 12:00 noon after uproar by TMC MPs over the National Register of Citizens NRC Assam draft.

 Criticizing the NRC draft, Ripun Bora,Assam Congress Chief stated that  40 lakh names ineligible is a very high figure and very surprising. He added that there are lot of irregularities in the report.

He further alleged that we will raise this issue with the Govt and in the Parliament and Political motive of BJP is also behind this.

Meanwhile Home Minister Rajnath Singh on NRC Assam draft asserted that even someone whose name is not in the final list can approach the foreigners tribunal.

He assured no coercive action will be taken against anyone; hence there is no need for anyone to panic. He further said that some people are unnecessarily trying to create an atmosphere of fear citing that this is a completely impartial report.

Earlier a day Sailesh, Registrar General NRC Assam, said that every person whose name was in the first draft but is missing from final draft will be given an individual letter to file claim for her/his non-inclusion during claims and objections.

Besides this, Satyendra Garg Joint Secretary (North East) NRC Assam stated that Based on this draft there is no question of any reference to Foreigners Tribunal or any person being taken to the detention centre.
