Ambedkar Jayanti: Watch PM Modi representes a pair of slippers to a tribal woman

Bijapur (Chhattisgarh) [India], Apr. 14 (NT): Follwing the fourth Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Saturday presented a pair of slippers to a tribal woman in Chhattisgarh's Bijapur city to observe the 127th birth anniversary of Dr Babasaheb Ambedkar.

Prime Minister Modi inaugurated the first health centre under Ayushman Bharat Scheme in Jangala earlier today. He also inaugurated the first phase of the Bastar Internet scheme under which a 40,000-km-long network of fibre optics cable would be spread across the seven districts of the tribal region.

He interacted with 'Champions of Change' including villagers and officials of the district administration.

Prime Minister Modi also inaugurated a new rail line and a passenger train between Gudum and Bhanupratapur, bringing north Bastar region on railways' map.

This was Prime Minister Modi's fourth visit to Chhattisgarh. He also inaugurated a local branch of State Bank of India. 9 such branches have been planned for Bijapur. 18 post offices will also be set up in Bijapur.

PM Modi will also visit an Anganwadi and also distributed a Tamarind de-seeding machines.

Bijapur has triumphed over several challenges like Left-wing extremism to be ranked among the top 5 performing districts on the basis of percent change in key indicators.
