Seoul: Apparently feeling "uncomfortable," a passenger on an Asiana Airlines flight admitted to police that he opened a door on the aircraft moments before it touched down in Daegu, South Korea, according to Yonhap News Agency.

The 30-year-old man was held upon landing. According to Yonhap on Saturday, citing the Daegu Dongbu Police Station, the man told the police that he opened the door because he "wanted to get off the plane quickly."

Additionally, he admitted to being anxious after recently losing his job. Police at the station could not be reached right away by Reuters. While the aircraft was approximately 700 feet (213 metres) in the air, the man opened the door, causing panic inside.

According to Yonhap, police sought an arrest warrant for the man who was detained on Saturday for violating the Aviation Security Act and other laws. As is customary, officials only disclosed the man's surname as Lee and not his full name.

A door was open just before landing, and passengers were seated nearby as the scene was captured on television in what appeared to have been a passenger's video.

According to Jin Seong-hyun, a former Korean Air cabin safety official, the incident was unprecedented as far as he was aware, but passengers have opened emergency exits without permission while aircraft are in the air.
