New Delhi: BJP Member of Parliament, Maneka Gandhi, expressed her profound pride in being part of a historic moment wherein the government is committed to ensuring women receive an equitable stake in India's future.

Maneka Gandhi, who previously held the position of Minister for Women and Child Development, extolled the transformative power of government initiatives such as 'Beti Bachao, Beti Padhao,' as well as the impactful social schemes like Jan Dhan and Ujjwala Yojana.

"I take immense pride in being a participant in this pivotal juncture, where, under the visionary leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi ji, the government has resolved to rectify entrenched disparities and provide women with an equal share in shaping India's destiny," Maneka Gandhi declared during a gathering at the Central Hall, dedicated to commemorating the illustrious history of the Indian Parliament.

She further emphasized Prime Minister Modi's approach of not viewing citizens merely as statistics but as individuals with distinct needs.

"Our endeavors have included facilitating access to banking services, ensuring the provision of dignified sanitation facilities, access to clean water at home, housing for the underprivileged, distribution of gas cylinders, extending loans to the youth, enhancing their skills, and safeguarding their welfare during the challenging times of the pandemic," she added.

As a senior parliamentarian, Maneka Gandhi reflected on her journey, which commenced when she entered Parliament at the age of 32, nearly a decade after her husband, Sanjay Gandhi, passed away. She remarked on how she has devoted a significant portion of her adult life to the hallowed halls of Parliament.

"In this historic institution, I have witnessed the tenures of seven prime ministers and have been a firsthand witness to the shaping of our nation's grand history," she nostalgically recalled.

Today, members of both the Lok Sabha and Rajya Sabha congregated in the venerable Central Hall of the erstwhile Parliament building to pay homage to the rich legacy of the Indian Parliament.
