In Maharashtra's Nagpur district, a 74-year-old man who lost his life due to coronavirus is buried in the land of the municipality. The local Christian crematorium did not allow the body to be buried, stating that it would allow only his ashes to be buried in the ground after the cremation.

The son of the deceased said that his father was undergoing treatment at a government hospital in Nagpur, and he died on Sunday morning. He was also a member of the local Protestant Church. He said that the family approached the Zaripatka Christian Cemetery to bury him. A member of the cemetery committee told him that the corona cases are increasing, and the cemetery was closed and only ashes bones can be buried.

He said that "We wanted to bury him in the traditional way without cremating the body. We did not get permission for this. They did not want those who died due to corona to be buried in the cemetery. It was getting late and officials of Nagpur Metropolitan Municipality (NMC) were waiting for the family's approval for the funeral of the deceased". His son said, "We had to make a decision and they (NMC) wanted to give us a place for burial in the Mankapur cemetery premises. My father was buried there according to Christian customs."
