Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) leader and Delhi minister Atishi announced on Tuesday that the Enforcement Directorate (ED) is set to issue summonses to top party figures, including Raghav Chadha, Saurabh Bhardwaj, and Durgesh Pathak, ahead of the Lok Sabha elections. Atishi also disclosed that she anticipates authorities will conduct a raid on her residence in the upcoming days.
In a press conference, Atishi revealed that someone close to her had suggested she join the BJP, warning that failure to do so could result in her arrest by the ED within a month.
These developments follow the recent judicial custody of AAP chief Arvind Kejriwal until April 15 in an alleged money laundering case related to the Delhi excise policy.
Atishi had previously hinted at a significant revelation to be made on social media platform X, stating, "I will be doing an explosive expose at 10 am tomorrow."
Earlier, Atishi had accused the BJP of financial impropriety on March 23, challenging Prime Minister Narendra Modi and the ED to apprehend BJP national president JP Nadda. She reiterated that no evidence of financial wrongdoing involving any AAP member has been uncovered thus far.
"In the so-called excise policy scam of Delhi, CBI and ED investigations have been going on for the past two years. In these two years, a question has come up again and again: Where is the money trail? Where did the money go? No proceeds of crime were recovered from any leader, minister, or worker of AAP," Atishi stated.
She further asserted that Arvind Kejriwal's arrest was based solely on the testimony of one individual, Sharad Chandra Reddy, who donated Rs 4.5 crore to the BJP. Atishi emphasized that no illicit funds were discovered during the ED's search of the Delhi Chief Minister's residence.
Arvind Kejriwal's Arrest by ED
Kejriwal was apprehended by the Enforcement Directorate on March 21 regarding the excise policy case. The court instructed Tihar Jail authorities to permit Kejriwal to have his prescribed medication and books. Additionally, they were directed to provide him with a table, chair, religious token, and a diet as per medical advice.
Kejriwal's legal team requested permission for him to possess various books, including the Bagwad Geeta, Ramayana, and "How Prime Minister Decided" by Neerja Chaudhary. Atishi, Saurabh Bharadwaj, Gopal Rai, and Kejriwal's wife were present during the court proceedings.
