AAP's Gujarat candidate
AAP's Gujarat candidate "kidnapped" by BJP, says Sisodia

NEW DELHI: Delhi Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia today alleged that BJP has kidnapped Kanchan Jariwala -- their candidates from Surat (East).

"The BJP is furious because it is losing badly in the Gujarat Assembly election. Kanchan Jariwala, a candidate for the Aam Aadmi Party in Surat East, has been kidnapped, while addressing medipersons.

Jariwala was last saw in the RO office on Tuesday, said Sisodia. The BJP attempted to have his nomination denied. He was afterward coerced into withdrawing his nomination. He said, this calls into question the election commission as well.

Since yesterday, Kanchan and his family have gone missing. He arrived at the office to have his nomination form scrutinised. As soon as he came out after the scrutiny, goons  in BJP took him away from there. Since then his whereabouts are not known", Manish Sisodia claimed.

He referred to it as "hazardous" for democracy and noted that the Election Commission is well-known for holding impartial elections. He questioned how a fair election would be held if a candidate had been abducted. "The democracy has been hijacked," he remarked, noting that the AAP candidate had not been taken hostage.

"I am currently heading to the Central Election Commission. In Gujarat, the BJP used goons to kidnap AAP candidate Kanchan Jariwala from Surat East, and then used the police to have the nomination cancelled. What purpose does voting serve in such a scenario, he asked in a tweet.
