Srinagar: Most of the pro-Pakistan core groups, mostly in jails in Jammu and Kashmir, have been shifted to jails in other states outside the state. The move comes as the militants and separatist leaders were in a state of panic and protest inside and outside the jails of Jammu and Kashmir after the repeal of Section 370 of the Constitution.
More than 100 such prisoners have been shifted from the jails of Srinagar, Kathua (Hiranagar) and Jammu to central jails in Uttar Pradesh and Haryana following special intelligence inputs. More prisoners are being identified in the Valley, which will be shifted to high-security jails in other states outside Jammu and Kashmir, which were recently divided into two Union Territories.
According to the sources, 70 prisoners from Srinagar, 10 prisoners from Jammu, five from Kathua and other jails in the rest of the state have been transferred to central jails in Uttar Pradesh and Haryana. This precautionary measure has been taken as the situation does not deteriorate after the abrogation of Section 370 in Jammu and Kashmir.
