New Delhi: The second wave of corona virus has disrupted the health system across the country. There are not enough health workers in the hospitals and the existing health workers are working beyond capacity. The Ministry of Defence has decided to recruit 400 retired doctors of Armed Forces Medical Service (AFMS) for 11 months to fight the corona epidemic.

Officials said the Armed Forces Medical Service (AFMS) is ready to recruit 400 retired medical doctors for 11 months to strengthen the war against the corona epidemic. The Defence Ministry has passed an order allowing AFMS to recruit these doctors who were discharged from service between 2017 and 2019. The Armed Forces and other wings of the Defence Ministry have been at the forefront of the corona war.

They have set up covid hospitals, increased oxygen production, airlifted medical staff and oxygen containers and also contacted the State Governments to help in tackling the increasing number of corona cases. The Defence Ministry has said that a fixed monthly amount will be given to these medical officers, which will be calculated by deducting the basic pension from salary for retirement. If there is any payment for the experts, it will be done above the fixed amount.
