When the second-generation members of the Christian Mithu family, who had been separated during the tumultuous days of India's 1947 Partition, reunited at the Gurdwara Darbar Sahib in Kartarpur, it was a very emotional moment. After learning about one other through a Punjabi news channel, the two branches of the family were able to reunite after 74 years to the Kartarpur Corridor.

"Around a year ago, a Punjabi news channel aired my interview in which I talked about our elders' separation during Partition, which was watched by our relatives in Punjab, who contacted us, and we planned a reunion at Kartarpur," Shahid Mithu said, regretting that both of the elders— Iqbal and Inayat— had died.

"After seeing Shahid Rafiq Mithu and 35 other relatives at Kartarpur, I am very happy," Sono Mithu said. The reunited relatives had a heart-to-heart talk and shared their experiences and recollections of their late forefathers and mothers. The Kartarpur authorities provided sweets to both families on this special occasion.

After that, the family members went on a tour of Gurdwara Darbar Sahib and shared lunch at the Baba Guru Nanak Langar Hall. They also went shopping at a market for shopping and kept chatting. They planned to meet again, and Sono's family was urged by a relative at the Gurdwara to bring additional family members on their next visit.
