Hailing the Indian Men's Badminton team's maiden title win in the Thomas Cup, Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Sunday said that they have created history and their victory is going to inspire many budding players. India's men's badminton team defeated 14-time champions Indonesia 3-0 in a one-sided final in Bangkok on Sunday to win the Thomas Cup title for the first time to register its name in the pages of history.

Modi tweeted that the Indian badminton team has made history! The whole country is happy with India winning the Thomas Cup! Congratulations to our successful team and best wishes to them for the tournament of the future. This win will inspire many budding players.  

There are reports that India has created history in the Thomas Cup badminton tournament. The team has also won the gold medal by winning the final title for the first time. Team India has also made a 3-0 clean sweep of Indonesia in the final. In the first match, Lakshya Sen defeated Anthony Sinisuka 8-21, 21-17, 21-16. In the doubles, the duo of Satwiksairaj Rankireddy and Chirag Shetty won the second match 18-21, 23-21, 21-19. The third match was of singles, in which Kidambi Srikanth defeated Jonathan Christie 21-15, 23-21. The Indian team has made it to the final for the first time by defeating teams like Malaysia and Denmark, in such a situation, the confidence of the team was very strong. Now she has made history by defeating 14-time record champions Indonesia in the final.
