New Delhi: A group of HIV/AIDS patients on Tuesday staged a protest in Delhi against the shortage of important antiretroviral drugs that have been recommended to prevent the spread of the infection. The protest was held at the office of the National AIDS Control Organisation in Delhi. Speaking to the media, the HIV patient said that they had informed the authorities about the shortage of the drug, but no action was taken on their complaint.

The patient says that for the last five months, these medicines are not in stock and the problem is not only in Delhi but also in the neighbouring states. They said "We are protesting because the life-saving medicines required for HIV patients are not available in Delhi and neighbouring states for the last five months. We wrote to the state authorities but to no avail.''

The patient also pointed out that it is not that the medicines are not in stock right now, this decrease continues. Medicines are out of stock and there is a shortage of such medicines, which are extremely essential for HIV patients. If we don't get these medicines, how will India become an HIV-free country? Meanwhile, the National AIDS Control Organisation, a central government agency, has started a round of meetings following protests by HIV patients to find a solution.
