New Delhi: The Tata Group is considering merging its 4 airline brands with Air India Limited to create a larger empire in the aviation sector. In this sequence, Tata may also end the Vistara brand, for which it is in talks with partner Singapore Airlines. After this decision of Tata, Air India will become the second largest airline in terms of number of aircraft and market share in the country.

Let us inform you that last year Tata group was declared victorious in the race to buy Air India. After which in January 2022, Tata acquired Air India from the Government of India and boarded the cockpit of Air India. Prior to the acquisition of Air India, Tata operated two airline brands namely Vistara and AirAsia. After the acquisition of Air India, the Tata group also got the brands Air India and Air India Express. In the same month, Tata said it was looking to buy AirAsia outright and merge it with Air India Express as a low-cost carrier. That is, Tata will operate all airlines only under the name of Air India brand.

If reports are to be believed, Tata may diminish the Vistara brand and Singapore Airlines. Tata's foreign partner in Vistara Airlines may be given 20 to 25 per cent stake in Air India Limited. Along with this, some board members of Vistara can be given a place on the board of Air India. Currently, Singapore Airlines holds 49 per cent stake in Tata Singapore Airlines.
