Kochi: Senior Congress leader AK Antony expressed his desire for his son, BJP candidate Anil Antony, to lose the Kerala seat he is contesting in the upcoming Lok Sabha elections. Addressing a press conference, Antony stated that he wishes for his son's party to be defeated, and for the Congress candidate in the south Kerala constituency, Anto Antony, to emerge victorious. He also criticized the decision of children of Congress leaders joining the BJP as "wrong."

Asserting his allegiance to the Congress, Antony stated, "The Congress is my religion," in response to inquiries about his son's political affiliations. Speaking to reporters in Kerala's Thiruvananthapuram, the veteran Congress leader reiterated the party's ongoing battle against Prime Minister Narendra Modi, the BJP, and the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS). Addressing allegations made by Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan about the Congress party's stance on national issues, Antony dismissed them, emphasizing the party's commitment to its cause. He expressed optimism about the prospects of the Congress party and Rahul Gandhi in challenging the BJP's dominance, stating, "The INDIA bloc is moving forward every day, and the BJP is going down. I think it's a chance for us to form the government."

Earlier, on April 1, Vijayan criticized Rahul Gandhi for seeking re-election in the Wayanad Lok Sabha seat, where he was contesting against Annie Raja of CPI, a party that is part of the INDIA bloc. A week later, on April 8, the Kerala Chief Minister accused both the BJP and the Congress of targeting the Kerala Infrastructure Investment Fund Board despite its contributions to development across the state. Vijayan alleged that the Congress was acting as an agent for central investigative agencies, which have initiated a probe against the Kerala Infrastructure Investment Fund Board (KIIB) for political purposes.

Continuing his election campaign in Pathanamthitta district, Vijayan reiterated his criticism of the RSS over the controversial film, 'The Kerala Story,' alleging that it was part of the saffron organization's agenda to discredit the state. He condemned the film as a "blatant lie" created to tarnish the image of Kerala.
