Amritsar: Jathedar Giani Raghbir Singh of Akal Takht has called for the controversial inclusion of pictures of Khalistani terrorists in the Central Sikh Museum at the Golden Temple complex. Singh proposed that images of Hardeep Singh Nijjar, Paramjit Singh Panjwar, and Gajinder Singh, all of whom are wanted in India for their separatist activities, be displayed at the museum.

This demand was made during a program organized by the Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee (SGPC) and the Dal Khalsa at Gurdwara Shaheed Ganj Baba Gurbaksh Singh. The event was held to pay tribute to Gajinder Singh, a prominent figure in the Khalistani movement. Singh was involved in the 1981 hijacking of an Indian Airlines plane, which was taken to Lahore, Pakistan, in a bid to secure the release of Jarnail Singh Bhindranwale, a notorious Khalistani leader.

Jathedar Giani Raghbir Singh praised Gajinder Singh for his unwavering commitment to Sikh principles and suggested that he be honored with a medal by Akal Takht. Singh argued that Gajinder Singh never compromised his beliefs and consistently resisted governmental pressures.

Paramjit Singh Panjwar, who led the Khalistani Commando Force (KCF), was killed in Lahore on May 6, 2023. Hardeep Singh Nijjar, another wanted terrorist, was murdered in Surrey, British Columbia, Canada, in a case that has led to diplomatic tensions between Canada and India. Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau accused India of being involved in Nijjar’s killing, a claim which India has denied.

SGPC President Harjinder Singh Dhami was also present at the event where Giani Raghbir Singh made these demands. The proposal has sparked controversy due to the contentious nature of the individuals involved and their actions against the Indian government.
