The goodwill earned from the people of the state and maintained for 12 years was destroyed by joining hands with the Congress and forming coalition government, said JD(S) leader H D Kumaraswamy on Saturday. JD(S) chief accused Congress leader Siddaramaiah of a conspiracy, as he stated that even BJP had not "betrayed" him to that level.
In an interview with the reporters, Kumaraswamy said he should not have joined hands with Congress which had campaigned against the JD(S) calling it BJP's 'B team', but due to the party supremo H D Deve Gowda's insistence he agreed to form the coalition government with Congress. "It has now led to my party losing its strength....I fell to the trap, to emotional feelings of Deve Gowda because of which my party that had won 28-40 seats independently in the last three elections is suffering, " he said.
But he clarified that he was not blaming Gowda for the lose, as he knows and respects his father's lifelong commitment towards secular identity. Internal differences has grown up and due to rebellion by some MLAs the coalition government collapsed last year, from that movement the Congress and JD(S) leaders have been blaming each other for it. Responding to Kumaraswamy allegation, Siddaramaiah said Kumaraswamy was an "expert in lying" and that "shedding tears was his family's culture".
