New Delhi: E-commerce company Amazon has been accused of funding to promote religious conversion in India. The Organizer, a magazine backed by the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS), has accused Amazon of providing funds for conversion in the Northeast of the country.
In this report, published under the title 'Amazing Cross Connection', the magazine also alleged that Amazon has financial ties with an organization called 'American Baptist Church.' Regarding the 'American Baptist Church,' it has been claimed in this article that it was running a conversion racket in this area. At the same time, Amazon has rejected these allegations. The magazine states that 'E-commerce giant Amazon is funding a Christian conversion module run by the American Baptist Church (ABM) for conversion.'
Not only this but in this article, there is also a possibility of money laundering by Amazon. Along with this, it has also been alleged that ABM was running a front called All India Mission (AIM) in India and the company has openly claimed on its website that they have converted 25,000 people in Northeast India. The Organizer in its report also claimed that the National Commission for Protection of Child Rights (NCPCR) has taken cognizance of the issue following a report published earlier by the magazine in September. While talking to the media, NCPCR chief Priyank Kanungo said that the commission had received a complaint in September that conversions were being done by orphanages in Arunachal Pradesh and this conversion module was being funded by Amazon.
Let us tell you that, NCPCR had also issued a notice to Amazon in this matter, but no response was given by the company. He told that after this summons were sent to the e-commerce company and in November NCPCR met three officials of Amazon India. Its spokesperson said that Amazon India has no affiliation with any such mission or its affiliates, nor does the Amazon Smile program operate on the Amazon India marketplace.
