WASHINGTON: Ahead of the proposed meeting between PM Modi and U.S. President Donald Trump on Monday at the G7 summit in France, the US has favoured India in removing Section 370 from Jammu and Kashmir. The US has once clarified its stand that removing Section 370 is an internal matter of India. At the same time, the US has slammed Pakistan for curbing terrorism.
A senior Trump administration official said, "The abrogation of Section 370 from Jammu and Kashmir by India is an internal matter. The U.S. wants all its issues to be resolved through dialogue to ease The Indo-Pak tension," the official lamented, adding that "Pakistan should curb terrorist groups on the LOC."
This is not the first time THAT US President Donald Trump has lashed out at Pakistan. Earlier on August 20, Donald Trump had asked Pakistan's PM Imran Khan to refrain from making provocative statements against India. After talking to Prime Minister Narendra Modi about 30 minutes on the phone, Trump spoke to Imran Khan for 12 minutes, in which Trump advised Imran Khan not to sever ties with India.
