Washington: Police brutality is exposed once again in America. This barbarity reminds of the George Floyd scandal that took place almost a month ago. This time an Indian-origin person has become a victim of the brutality of policemen. However, it is a matter of relief that later this man was taken to the police hospital, which saved his life. After the video of this incident went viral on social media, there is huge outrage among the people and once again protests have started against the police across the country.
The case is from New York, where a viral video of a policeman kneeling the throat of Yugeshwar Gaindarpersaud in the city of Schenectady on Monday. This incident reminded people of the murder of George Floyd in Minneapolis on May 25. However, Yugeshwar was rushed to the hospital after being found injured in the incident and thus he survived. Protests against police across the US have intensified after the video of the incident went viral on Media. Later, Yugeshwar Gaindarpersaud staged a massive protest outside the Schenectady police headquarters with around 100 people. According to media reports, the protesters demanded action against the policemen. Paul Tonko, a Democratic member of the House of Representatives, stated, "I am outraged and shocked to see this violence of a police officer in Schenectady ."
The city police chief Eric Clifford said in a statement that complaints were received that Yugeshwar had cut a car tire and protested when police tried to arrest him. He said that the attempt to hold his throat was made only to control him.
