Chief Electoral Commissioner O P Rawat addressed the media to announce the schedule of Karnataka Assembly Elections 2018.

 During his press, addressThe Bharatiya Janata Party’s information technology cell Chief Amit Malviya sparked a row on Tuesday as he tweeted the dates of the Karnataka Assembly Polls even before they were announced By Chief Election Commissioner OP Rawat. Later He deleted the tweet and claimed that he had posted what a news channel was reporting. A section of the media had also flashed the dates before they were officially announced by the EC.

At a press conference in New Delhi, When, Chief Election Commissioner OP Rawat asked about the date- leaks then he stated  to reporters, “Be assured that actions legally and administratively befitting will be taken.”

The Election Commission on Tuesday announced that the Assembly elections in Karnataka will be held on May 12 and the results will be announced on May 15. The term of the current Assembly, which has 224 seats, ends on May 28.while late date for filing nominations is April 24.

Malviya and some sections of the media received the polling date correct but, however, they got the date of the results incorrect.

 Rawat said accessible elections are the EC's theme for elections this year. For this year, the polling body has ensured special focus on convenient voting for persons with disabilities. Special arrangements for women are being made. All-women polling booths will be set up across the state, he added.
