NEW DELHI: Addressing an event at the Constituency Club in the national capital on Sunday, Union Home Minister Amit Shah said, "Some political parties were used to vote bank. It was because of the politics of appeasement Triple Talaq lasted for so many years. When we take the concept of the whole society, we have to think about the sentiments."

Amit Shah said, "If triple talaq were part of the Quran, why would the Muslim countries of the world remove it? Many allege that we acted against the Muslim community. I want to make it clear that the end of triple talaq will give women in Muslim society the right to equality."

Shah further said that by eliminating social evils like triple talaq, PM Narendra Modi's name is now king Ram Mohan Rai, Jyotiba Phule, Mahatma Gandhi and Dr. Singh. Bhimrao has joined the list of social reformers like Ambedkar. He said, as a social reformer, PM Modi has worked to eliminate familyism, casteism and appeasement from the country.'
