New Delhi: Union Home Minister Amit Shah will hold a 'Nishad Samaj Jan Sabha' in Uttar Pradesh today, December 17,  in a bid to rebalance the social equations ahead of the Assembly elections.

Amit Shah will hold a "Nishad Samaj Jan Sabha" in Lucknow on Friday as part of his day-long tour to Uttar Pradesh. "Amit Shah is expected to attend the event between 2 and 3 p.m.," a source said on condition of anonymity.

In addition, between 3.45 and 4.45 p.m., the Home Minister will open 23 new branches of the Uttar Pradesh Cooperative Bank. During the event, Shah will dedicate 29 godowns of the Uttar Pradesh State Warehousing Corporation. Between 4.45 and 6.40 p.m., the Home Minister will attend the commencement of Sahakar Bharati's seventh National Convention.

Shah's travel to Uttar Pradesh to attend the 'Nishad Jan Sabh' comes after the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and the Nishad (Nirbal Indian Shoshit Humara Aam Dal) party, led by Sanjay Nishad, formally formed an alliance in September. The BJP said it was in contact with other small parties to fight the upcoming assembly elections in Uttar Pradesh in 2022.
