New Delhi: Union Home Minister Amit Shah will arrive here today on a three-day visit to the Union Territory to inspect various developmental initiatives in Andaman and Nicobar. An official said he will visit the National Memorial Cellular Jail and pay floral tributes at the martyrs' pillar. He will also visit the cell of freedom fighter Veer Savarkar and pay homage to him.

The Union Home Minister will also participate in a cultural programme under the 'Amrit Mahotsav of Freedom'. Amit Shah will conduct an aerial survey in the Union Territory and take stock of various developmental initiatives including the Shaheed Island Eco-Tourism Project and Swaraj Island Water Airport. Amit Shah will also visit Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose Island. The Union Home Minister is also scheduled to attend an event organised by Andaman and Nicobar Police on Sunday.  Tell us that this will be the first time that Shah will be given the security of the National Security Guard, the NSG.

A team of highly trained NSG commandos will provide full-proof security to Amit Shah. He will be accompanied by the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF). Shah will visit several historical places during the two-day visit. According to sources, the NSG has been called to provide security to the Home Minister. The decision is said to have been taken in view of the waterlogged area.
