This fort was built by Raja Bhupat Singh of Bhati dynasty about 1735 years ago i.e. in 285 AD, hence its name 'Bhatner Fort'. This fort is also known as 'Hanumangarh', because Raja Surat Singh of Bikaner won this fort from Bhatis in the year 1805. That day was Tuesday and since Tuesday is dedicated to Lord Hanuman, it was named Hanumangarh. This fort built with paved bricks and lime was considered the strongest fort in ancient times. The ruler of the Timuri dynasty, Timurlang, in his biography 'Tujuk-e-Taimuri', has described it as the strongest fort in India. He has written that he has never seen a strong fort like Bhatner in his life.

this fort has ruled from Akbar to Prithviraj Chauhan. On the other hand, if we talk about foreign invaders, then in 1001 AD, Mahmud Ghaznavi captured it. Apart from this, Sher Khan, a cousin of Balban, the ruler of the Ghulam dynasty, also ruled here in the 13th century. Sher Khan's tomb is also in this fort. At the same time in 1398, this fort became under Timurlang. Inside this fort there are many temples ranging from Hanuman temple to Lord Shiva. Apart from this, there is also the tomb of Sher Shah Suri in this fort of 52 bastions. It is said that an underground tunnel was also built in this fort, which used to go from Bhatner to the forts of Bhatinda and Sirsa.
