Amaravati: Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy on Thursday virtually launched American Corner at Andhra University in Vizag, in the presence of United State Consul General of Hyderabad Joel Reifman and USAID Mission Director Veena Reddy.  Notably, It is the third centre in the country after Hyderabad and Ahmedabad.

Speaking at the meeting, Chief Minister said that this outreach programme will further be strengthened to have an American Consul in Vizag hopefully in near future. He stated that this initiative would play a very vital role in the lives of the students and thanked the officials for bringing this to Vizag. He pointed out that setting up the Corner in Visakhapatnam would pave the way for bettering the working relationship between both the countries, keeping in mind the Indo-Pacific region.

Having American Corner in Andhra University will go a long way in bridging the skill gap and also supporting students to study abroad in the best universities," said Andhra Chief Minister. American Corner is a partnership between the US Consulate and Andhra University, which aims to provide educational and cultural opportunities for the students.

The event was attended by U.S Consul General from Hyderabad, Joel Reifman, USAID Mission Director in India, Veena Reddy, Public Affairs Officer, U.S. Consulate, Hyderabad, David Moyer and AU Vice-Chancellor P.V.G.D. Prasad Reddy, for taking the initiative forward and establishing the American Corner
