The state of Andhra is getting wet day by day as heavy rains are lashing different cities of the state making flood-like situations everywhere. Heavy rains lashed the Kadapa district on Saturday night. As a result, roads were flooded and floodwaters entered homes in several areas. It rained constantly for four hours in Kadapa city. Different areas like the bus stand area, NGO Colony, Cooperative Colony, Om Shanti Nagar, R.K. Nagar, Prakashnagar, Mrityunjaya Kunta and Beedi Colony were immersed. There happened situations wherein cooking utensils were seen getting washed away from several houses in Mrityunjaya Kunta. Motorists were hit hard by knee-deep water on the roads.

Two houses collapsed, one in old Kadapa SC Colony and the other in Chakrayapeta. Various reservoirs in Kadapa district have been receiving heavy inflows. About 12,000 cusecs of water reached Gandikota Reservoir that released water to the downstream Mylavaram Reservoir. In addition, pumps were initiated and water was lifted from Gandikota to Chitravati and Paidipalem projects. As Mylavaram Reservoir too is full, its six gates have been lifted and 9,000 cusecs of water is being released downstream.

Hyderabad receives good rains by August end

The gates of Vankamarri Dam have also been lifted to release excess waters. Sagileru Canal got flooded due to heavy rains on Saturday night. Brahmgarimatham revenue and police officials have asked people of Godlaveedu, P. C. Palli, Mallegudipadu, Tummalapalli, Dirasavancha and Peddirajupalle villages to remain vigilant and have issued an alert.
