Port Blair: Corona cases are declining across the country. Today, after 54 days, the lowest number of new cases have been registered. On the other hand, the process of unlocking has started in many states in the country from today. States like Delhi, Uttar Pradesh, Madhya Pradesh and Haryana are unlocking from today. State governments said that in view of the declining rate of corona cases, the process of unlocking should start gradually so that people can get out of the house once again and do their job.

Meanwhile, an official report from the Andaman and Nicobar Islands said that the total lockdown imposed in south Andaman district till May 31 has been extended for seven more days till June 7. Though there has been a slight decline in infected cases in the district, the administration believes that it would not be a proper decision to remove the lockdown unless there is a drastic reduction in infected cases coming up in the district.

Let us tell you that Port Blair is located in south Andaman and this district is the most populous of the three districts of Andaman and Nicobar Islands. The information said shops selling essential commodities will be allowed to remain open from 6 am to 8 am strictly following covid guidelines and will not be allowed to move people at other times without valid e-passes.
