Apple, the well-known tech company from California, has launched its 'Apple Watch For Your Kids' feature in India. This new feature allows parents to set up cellular Apple Watches for their children, enabling kids to make calls and send messages without needing their own iPhone. This follows Apple’s earlier launch, which allowed Apple Watches to be set up independently of an iPhone.

With this new feature, children with a cellular Apple Watch can easily stay connected with family and friends. The feature includes tools for communication, health, fitness, and safety, all with built-in safeguards. For example, parents can pre-approve contacts that their child can access, ensuring controlled communication.

The safety features are impressive, including Emergency SOS for quick access to emergency services, Apple Maps for navigation, and Find People for locating family members or sharing locations.

Fitness is also a focus, with the Apple Watch allowing children to track their activity through Activity rings and set workout goals. Kids can even send Activity Sharing invitations to friends, encouraging a healthy competitive spirit. Parents can monitor all these activities using their iPhone.

One notable feature is the Schooltime mode, which is marked by a distinct yellow circle on the watch face. When activated, this mode silences notifications, restricts app usage, and turns on Do Not Disturb, helping children stay focused during school hours. Parents can turn this mode on or off manually or schedule it via their iPhone.

To use this feature, users need an Apple Watch Series 4 or later, or an Apple Watch SE, paired with an iPhone 8 or later running the latest versions of watchOS and iOS. Activating cellular service requires a wireless plan for the Apple Watch. Additionally, both the parent and child must have Apple IDs with two-factor authentication enabled. Apple states that the Apple Watch can last up to 14 hours on a single charge, depending on the model.

By adding these capabilities, Apple is enhancing the versatility and family-friendly nature of its smartwatch lineup, reaching more users in India.
