New Delhi: An FIR has been registered in Maharashtra against TV journalist Navika Kumar for her alleged objectionable remarks on Prophet Muhammad. At the same time, two lawyers have moved the Supreme Court regarding the arrest of Nupur Sharma. Navika Kumar as well as Nupur Sharma have been named in the FIR lodged at Nanalpet police station in Parbhani district of Maharashtra on the complaint of Amiruddin Jaffiodin Farooqe. The complainant has accused Navika Kumar of deliberately inciting religious sentiments. Farooque has said that at 9 pm on May 25, when Navika Kumar was hosting her prime time show 'The News Hour', Nupur Sharma had hurled abuses at Prophet Muhammad, hurting his religious sentiments.

At the same time, two lawyers have moved the Supreme Court seeking action against former BJP spokesperson Nupur Sharma and his arrest. The application was filed in the apex court on behalf of advocate Abu Sohail and advocate Chand Qureshi, saying nupur's statement was violative of Articles 14, 15, 21, 26 and 29 of the Indian Constitution. His hate speech against prophet Muhammad has hurt the religious sentiments of the Muslim community. In such a situation, the concerned authority should be directed to take immediate action against Nupur Sharma and arrest him.

The petitioners contend that Nupur Sharma, representing her party on the national channel, has disrespected the religion of Islam. The peace of the entire country has been disturbed. Spreading their hatred in this manner is a punishable offence. According to the petition, Sharma's abusive words have created an uproar in the country and the world. Let us know that in view of the growing controversy over the alleged remarks against Prophet Muhammad and opposition from Islamic countries, the BJP had suspended Nupur Sharma on June 5. Nupur Sharma on the matter says that her comment about Prophet Muhammad was as a reaction to being "insulted to Lord Shiva" as she could not tolerate the insult of her adorable. Let us know that even after Nupur Sharma apologised and his suspension, he continues to receive threats of murder and rape by Islamic fundamentalists.
