New Delhi: The Rajya Sabha Secretariat has launched a scheme for the welfare of employees in the name of former Finance Minister and veteran BJP leader Arun Jaitley. Jaitley has a long association with the Rajya Sabha. The former Union Minister died in August 2019. After Jaitley's death, his wife Sangeeta Jaitley requested the Speaker of the Upper House M. Venkaiah Naidu to donate the pension amount for the welfare of the lower-paid employees of Rajya Sabha.
Now the Rajya Sabha Secretariat prepared a plan, which has been approved by the General Secretary, Rajya Sabha. The scheme is being launched this year. The upper house will be provided with three scholarships for Children of Rajya Sabha employees in higher technical/vocational education in the fields of Engineering, Medicine, MCA / MBA / LLB under the scheme "Arun Jaitley Financial Assistance for Group C Employees". In addition, the employees will be given financial assistance in case of death and a medical emergency.
Sangeeta Jaitley's annual family pension eligibility at current rates is more than three lakh rupees. The Rajya Sabha Secretariat has confirmed that they have transferred the entire amount to the Secretariat since August last year.
