Arunachal Pradesh reports 319 fresh COVID-19 cases, two deaths

Itanagar: Arunachal Pradesh's COVID-19 caseload rose to 49,203, with 319 more people tested positive for the infection, said a senior health department official here on Thursday. The death toll in the northeastern State increased to 236 as two more persons succumbed to the infection in the past two days, the official said. A 55-year-old man from West Kameng died at Dahung military hospital in the district on Tuesday due to Covid Pneumonia while another man of 54 years age from Lower Subansiri, died at his residence on Tuesday due to cardiac vascular arrest, said State Surveillance Officer (SSO) Dr Lobsang Jampa.

The Capital Complex Region continued to remain in the top of the list of fresh infections with 99 new cases, followed by Lower Subansiri (38), Papumpare (27), Lower Dibang Valley (19), Lohit (17), Tawang (16), Upper Siang and Anjaw at 13 each, East Siang (12) and Changlang at 10 cases.. A total of nine fresh cases were also reported from Upper Subansiri, eight from Kamle, seven from Lower Siang, five each from West Kameng and West Siang, four from Dibang Valley, three from Shi-Yomi, two each from Tirap, Siang, Namsai, Longding and Kra Daadi and one each from East Kameng, Kurung Kumey, Leparada and Pakke Kessang district respectively.

Among the fresh cases, 297 were detected through rapid antigen tests, 14 through RT-PCR and 8 by TrueNat methods, the SSO said adding, 139 people were with symptoms. The active cases in the State now stand at 3,337. As many as 332 patients were cured of the disease on Wednesday taking the total number of recoveries in the State to 45,630. The recovery rate among coronavirus patients in the state stand at 92.74 per cent while the active percentage stands at 6.78 and the positivity rate at 5.92 per cent.
