New Delhi: Delhi CM and Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) national convener Arvind Kejriwal's plea seeking permission to visit Singapore has been rejected by Lieutenant Governor (LG) Vinay Kumar Saxena. Now, on behalf of the AAP, it has now sought permission from the External Affairs Ministry to allow Kejriwal to go to Singapore. According to the MEA, an online application has been filed for this on behalf of Kejriwal.

Earlier, Delhi Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia had said that Kejriwal's application to go to Singapore has been turned down by the Lieutenant Governor. The LG has advised Kejriwal not to go to Singapore. Manish Sisodia has termed the LG's decision as motivated by the meaning of the situation. Sisodia said that now the AAP government will seek permission from the External Affairs Ministry to go to Singapore. According to the report, LG Saxena had advised Kejriwal not to attend the World City Summit to be held in Singapore next week. Saxena had said that it was the mayor's conference, so there was no justification for the chief minister to go there.

Manish Sisodia has targeted the Centre and the BJP for not allowing Kejriwal to go to Singapore. He has said in a press conference that the LG has said that it is the mayor's conference, so they are not allowing Kejriwal to go. Sisodia claimed that earlier chief ministers of other states have been attending the conference in the past. Even the Prime Minister keeps going into matters related to the states. It means politics. "We will directly approach the External Affairs Ministry for political approval in the matter.'' We hope we get permission from there.
