Ahmedabad: The Gujarat High Court on Friday rejected Asaram's bail plea, which is serving a jail term in a 2013 rape case filed by a woman. The Gujarat High Court has directed the Gandhinagar Sessions Court to complete the hearing of the case within four months in the case. So far, about 15 bail petitions of Asaram have been rejected from the Lower to the Supreme Court.

Justice A J Desai rejected the bail plea following objections raised by the prosecution and directed the Gandhinagar sessions court to complete the hearing of the case within four months. In fact, a woman from Surat has filed a case of sexual abuse against Asaram. The woman alleged that Asaram raped her while living in Motera Ashram between 1997 and 2006.

In his bail plea filed through advocate Deepak Patel, Asaram had sought relief on the ground that he was over 80 years old and his health was deteriorating. CBI's lawyer told the high court that Asaram has been lodged in Jodhpur jail for nearly eight years. He is always being treated by doctors at Jodhpur AIIMS whenever his health deteriorates and needed treatment.
