Hangzhou, China: Sumit Antil, representing India, displayed an exceptional performance in the men's F64 javelin throw final at the Asian Para Games 2023. The 25-year-old athlete not only clinched the gold medal but also left an indelible mark on the record books by setting new records on the field.

In a stunning third attempt, Sumit Antil unleashed a colossal throw that covered a jaw-dropping distance of 73.29 meters. This remarkable achievement not only shattered the Asian Para Games record but also established new Asian and World Records. Sumit's incredible prowess was on full display, as he dominated the competition and left spectators in awe.

Joining Sumit on the podium was Pushpendra Singh, who secured the bronze medal with a formidable throw covering 62.06 meters. Meanwhile, Arachchige Samitha from Sri Lanka claimed the silver medal with a toss that reached 62.42 meters.

India's overall performance at the Asian Para Games 2023 has been outstanding. With Sumit Antil's gold, the Indian contingent has now accumulated a total of 36 medals, including 10 gold, 12 silver, and 14 bronze medals, placing them in the fifth position on the medals tally. This impressive achievement reflects India's commitment to excellence in Para sports.

The first day of the Games witnessed a strong start for India, as they secured 17 medals in total, comprising 6 gold, 6 silver, and 5 bronze. On the second day, the contingent continued to shine, adding 17 more medals, including three gold, bringing their total medal count to 34.

India has sent its largest-ever contingent to the Asian Para Games, comprising 303 athletes, including 191 men and 112 women. This significant participation underscores India's determination to make a mark on the continental stage. In the 2018 Asian Para Games, India's athletes displayed their prowess and brought home a total of 72 medals, including 15 gold, marking their best-ever performance at the quadrennial continental event.
