Srinagar: In the famous Dal lake in Srinagar, the first-ever open-air floating theatre in Jammu and Kashmir has been launched. The theatre was inaugurated by J-K Chief Secretary Arun Kumar Mehta during the closing ceremony of the ongoing Iconic week celebrations.

The goal of this theatre is to increase tourism in the union territory. Kashmir is known around the world for its natural beauty, and Bollywood filmmakers have referred to it as a "photographers paradise." Local artists sang and danced to Kashmiri songs as a Shikara rally adorned with shining lights passed through Nehru Park to Kabootar Khana, entertaining guests and passersby.Local artists sang and danced to Kashmiri songs as a Shikara rally adorned with shining lights passed through Nehru Park to Kabootar Khana, entertaining guests and passersby.

The Bollywood film 'Kashmir ki Kali' was screened in the theatre for tourists and locals.  The theatre, according to Sarmad Hafeez, Secretary, Tourism and Culture, J-K government, will benefit tourism in the union territory. "There's a lot of interest in evening activities." The concept of open-air is quite unique, and it is not found anywhere else on the planet. It will be extremely beneficial to Kashmir's tourism industry. Shikara, houseboat owners, and the hotel industry are all eager to welcome visitors. Because the entire tourist industry is vaccinated, J-K is the safest place in terms of COVID-19. The industry has conducted a number of capacity-building programmes based on COVID protocols. Since winter is approaching, I'm hoping for a good turnout.
